So close were our Cubs to T20 glory! But alas, it was not meant to be. CCD 3 beat United 3 in their T20 semi-final clash on Saturday morning by a resounding 8 wickets, chasing down 111 in the 14th over, thanks to an unbeaten 69 by captain JP Conradie. It was a much tougher match against Otjiwarongo 1 in the final, the only team that the Cubs lost to throughout the campaign.
OCC put on 168, despite a slow start, thanks to Jan-Hendrik Potgieter scoring 107*. After losing Conradie early in the chase, it was an uphill battle for the Tigers’ batsmen, with only Albert De Klerk showing any staying power in making 27. The Cubs fell short by almost 100 runs, in the end, making only 72. We are proud of the Cubs, who lost only two matches in the entire league and finished in second place.
